Pakistani showbiz loses several prominent stars in 2025
The year 2025, filled with both bitter and sweet memories, is rapidly approaching its end. While this year proved to be successful for several actors, it also witnessed the loss of many shining stars who departed from their fans forever and now rest beneath the earth. Among the Pakistani showbiz figures who passed away in 2025, two deaths in particular sent shockwaves across the country.
Senior drama industry actress Ayesha Khan was found dead on June 20, 2025, in her apartment located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. According to police, a neighbour informed authorities after noticing a foul smell. When the apartment door was broken open, a decomposed body was recovered from inside.
Following this, on July 8, an unrecognisable body of Humaera Asghar was found in an apartment in Karachi’s Defence area. Medical reports revealed that she had died on October 7, and the body was nine months old. Her burial took place on July 11 in her hometown, Lahore.
Humaera Asghar’s father refused to come to Karachi to receive her body. Police investigated the incident, termed it mysterious, but later declared the death natural.
The first showbiz star to pass away in 2025 was comedian Javed Kodu, who died in April 2025 after a prolonged illness, bidding farewell to fans in a state of destitution.
In his final interview, Javed Kodu mentioned not receiving help from colleagues, saying, “I hoped my friends would come to help me, but perhaps they too are troubled by inflation.”
On May 3, the mother of Pakistani film star and supermodel Iman Ali, and the wife of actor Abid Ali, former renowned actress Humaira Abid, passed away. She had begun her career during the golden era of PTV.
Another well-known comedian and theatre, television, and film artist, Lucky Dear, passed away on September 30, 2025, after a long illness. The 60-year-old artist had been suffering from lung disease and diabetes for eight months and was under treatment at Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
On September 1, renowned film, television, and stage actor Anwar Ali also passed away after a prolonged illness. He was suffering from lung and kidney diseases, paralysis, and a heart condition.
On November 4, 2025, a respected figure of the Pakistan film industry, renowned producer and distributor Chaudhry Kamran Ijaz, passed away after suffering a brain hemorrhage.
Renowned Pakistani film writer and scriptwriter Muhammad Kamal Pasha passed away on October 3, 2025, after a prolonged illness. Muhammad Kamal Pasha made remarkable contributions to Pakistani cinema as a scriptwriter. His writings focused on social issues, poverty, love, moral decline, and death. He wrote scripts for more than 300 films and left a lasting impact on the film industry through his creative talent.
