Confession of Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, said- Pakistani children are reading wrong history, ‘My ancestors were Hindus’

New Delhi. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has given a statement which has sparked a new debate regarding the country’s identity and history. Asif openly admitted that the children of Pakistan were being taught ‘wrong history’. Because of this, the people of the country are moving away from their real roots. In an interview, Khawaja Asif said that we Pakistani Muslims hate our Hindu ancestors. Half of the people of Pakistan falsely claim that their ancestors came from Saudi Arabia or Iran.

He said that this thinking was deliberately prepared so that the new generation of Pakistan gets cut off from the identity of its civilization. Questioning the history books, Khwaja Asif said that Hindu rulers in Pakistan were almost erased from history. He said that we removed Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka from history books because they were Hindus. He further said, that my ancestors were Hindus. Does this make me less Pakistani? According to Asif, the books taught in Pakistan were written by people who tried to mold the coming generations into a particular mindset.

Society’s thinking was changed to use Pakistan in America’s wars and history was presented accordingly.

Khawaja Asif said that the thinking of the society was changed to use Pakistan in America’s wars and history was presented accordingly. He said that our children are not reading factual history. Today many people in Pakistan do not even know who Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka were? This statement of Khawaja Asif has come at a time when he is already embroiled in controversies on the issue of America and Israel. Recently, US President Donald Trump had appealed to many Muslim countries including Pakistan to join the Abraham Accords and recognize Israel.

Pakistan will not recognize Israel

Responding to this, Asif had said that I personally do not think that we should get involved in any such agreement which conflicts with our basic thinking. He reiterated that Pakistan’s old stand still persists and Islamabad will not recognize Israel until an independent Palestinian state is formed with East Jerusalem as its capital on the basis of 1967 borders.

Pakistan has never given official recognition to Israel in its 78 years of history. Even on the Pakistani passport it is clearly written that it is not valid for travel to Israel. After Asif’s statement, reaction was also seen in America. Questioning Pakistan’s role, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that Pakistan’s thinking towards Israel has been negative for a long time and in such a situation, its mediation in matters related to America, Iran or Israel can be “full of problems”.
