Pakistan’s Sameer Minhas broke Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record, scored a century in the final

The final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 is being played between India and Pakistan in Dubai. In this match, after losing the toss, the Pakistani team came to bat first and scored 347 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. For Pakistan, opener Sameer Minhas played a marathon inning of 172 runs in 113 balls, which included 17 fours and 9 sixes.

 

Sameer Minhas batted openly from the initial overs. This right-handed batsman scored fifty in 29 balls. After this he continued his rhythm and completed his century in 71 balls. This was the second fastest century of this tournament. Vaibhav Suryavanshi had scored a century in 56 balls against UAE just a few days ago.

Minhas left behind Vaibhav’s record

Even though Sameer Minhas lagged behind Vaibhav in terms of scoring a century, he overtook him in terms of playing the biggest innings in Youth ODI. Minhas has come to 9th position in the list of batsmen who have made the highest individual score in Youth ODI. Whereas Vaibhav (171) has slipped to tenth place. Minhas has also achieved the feat of becoming the batsman with the highest individual score in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup. He broke the record of compatriot Sami Aslam (134).

Minhas had scored unbeaten 177 runs just a few days ago

19 year old Sameer Minhas had scored unbeaten 177 runs in 148 balls against Malaysia in the same Asia Cup on 12th December. However, this inning of his could not be recorded in the record book of Youth ODI, because Malaysia is not a full member country of ICC.
