Pakistan’s U-turn on the match with India in T20 World Cup, Omar Abdullah took a dig… said this

Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken a dig at Pakistan’s U-turn regarding playing the match against India in the T20 World Cup. He said that Pakistani officials had initially warned that they would not play the match against India, but later backed down out of fear. Omar Abdullah remarked that those who do not have the strength to stick to their threats should not make threats in the first place. He said sarcastically that such people should come to the field quietly and whatever happens in the match, will happen. This statement of CM was given in Jammu, where he took a dig at this reversal of Pakistan.

The T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan will take place as per schedule. The Pakistan government has withdrawn the decision to boycott this match after convincing Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The match between India and Pakistan is to be held in Colombo on 15 February.

  • The Pakistan government said in a release, ‘Following the results of multilateral negotiations and the requests of friendly countries, the Government of Pakistan directs the Pakistan national cricket team to play its scheduled matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on 15 February 2026.’

    What is Pakistan’s statement?
Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam, in a statement issued earlier, had requested Pakistan to play this match in the interest of cricket. Only after this it became clear that Pakistan would play this match. The Pakistan government statement said, ‘This decision has been taken with the aim of protecting the spirit of cricket and supporting the continuity of this global game in all participating countries.’

Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also received a call from Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who requested him to withdraw the decision of boycott. It said, ‘The President of Sri Lanka had requested the Prime Minister to seriously consider resolving the current impasse in an amicable manner.’
