Palghar: A 27-year-old woman was critically injured after she was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon in broad daylight in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, police said.
The incident occurred near the Gold Cinema area around 6:30 pm on Friday. The victim, identified as Snehal Sawant, was residing in rented accommodation near the location of the attack.
CCTV footage captures assault
According to reports, CCTV footage from the area shows the accused allegedly attacking Sawant multiple times before fleeing the scene. Preliminary information suggests the assailant targeted the woman’s neck and waist during the attack.
Victim Undergoing Treatment
Sawant sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be critical.
Police Probe Personal Dispute Angle
Police suspect the attack may have stemmed from a personal dispute, though the exact motive is yet to be established.
A search operation has been launched to trace the accused, who remains absconding. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and collecting evidence as part of the ongoing probe.
