Panic due to bomb threat at Kolkata airport: Intensive search of Indigo flight continues, know complete updates

Kolkata. There was panic at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday morning after a bomb threat was received on Shillong-bound Indigo flight 6E 7304. Before passengers could board the plane, a handwritten note was found in the lavatory, which claimed to contain a bomb.

The plane was sent to the isolation bay-
According to the Airport Authority of India (AAI), the note was spotted by a crew member in the morning and security agencies were immediately informed. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay and all measures were taken as per standard safety procedures.

The bomb disposal team conducted a thorough search-
Officials said the bomb disposal squad and security agencies are conducting a thorough search of the plane. No suspicious object has been detected so far. All necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers.

Incidents of bomb threats are continuously increasing-
Cases of bomb threats targeting domestic flights are continuously coming to light in the country. On January 18, a note was found in the toilet of an Indigo flight going from Delhi to Bagdogra, in which it was claimed that there was a bomb. Similarly, in flight 6E 2608 going from Delhi to Pune, a bomb threat note was found in the toilet of the plane. In both cases the aircraft were safely diverted and after thorough investigation the threats were proven to be fake.

Police and security agencies are on constant alert and are continuing the investigation keeping the safety of passengers as paramount.
