Panic due to suspicious parcel in Mandsaur Post Office, opium found in chocolate wrapper, was being sent to Canada, CBN seized it
There was a sensation in Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh when internationally banned drug opium was found in a suspicious parcel meant to be sent to Canada. This incident has shocked the post office employees as well as the police administration, as it is being considered as a serious attempt at drug smuggling. After this action taken at the post office located in Nai Abadi on Monday evening, there is an atmosphere of panic in the entire area and the police along with the Central Narcotics Bureau (CBN) have started searching for the absconding youth.
According to the information, this entire incident happened between 4 to 4:30 pm on Monday evening. A young man had reached Nai Abadi Post Office in Mandsaur with a parcel weighing two kilos. His intention was to send this parcel to a distant country like Canada. Jyoti Chaprot, head postmaster of the post office, said that when the young man was asked for information about the contents of the parcel, he suddenly became nervous. The employees found the young man’s expressions suspicious and as soon as they asked questions, he quickly ran away from the spot without saying anything, which further deepened the employees’ suspicions.
Information given to CBN on suspicion of suspicious material
The young man’s sudden escape deepened the suspicion of the post office employees and they immediately realized that the parcel might contain some suspicious material. Understanding the seriousness of the situation and anticipating any untoward incident, the post office staff immediately informed the entire matter to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CBN) Mandsaur team. As soon as the information was received, the CBN team reached the post office located at Nayi Abadi without any delay. CBN officers and soldiers reached the spot and started thoroughly checking the parcel, due to which an atmosphere of chaos was created in the post office premises for some time.
Opium in chocolate wraps inside the parcel
The CBN team opened and examined the suspicious parcel in the presence of post office employees. During investigation, they found a suspicious substance hidden in chocolate foils inside the parcel. Post office employees said that the CBN team has seized the suspicious substance and taken it with them. According to information received from sources, the seized substance is opium, which was very cleverly hidden in chocolate packaging so that no one could suspect it and it could easily reach Canada. However, the exact quantity of opium recovered is not yet clear, as the CBN has not issued any official statement in this regard.
This attempt at international drug smuggling has raised the concern of security agencies, which keep a close watch on such activities. This will be confirmed only after the lab test of the substance seized by CBN and only then will it be clear what quantity of opium has actually been seized. CBN is expected to issue a press note in this regard soon, only after which something can be said officially on this entire matter. At present, CBN and police have started searching for the absconding youth and detailed investigation of the case is going on so that other members of this smuggling racket can be reached.
