Mumbai The love story of Pankaj Tripathi and his wife Mridula is no less than a Bollywood romantic comedy. Both of them first met when they were students and fell in love with each other at first sight. However, in classic Bollywood style, the lover-boy sacrificed his love. Thankfully, in the case of Pankaj Tripathi, his wife Mridula decided to express her feelings for him and ultimately became his biggest support system.

Pankaj Tripathi once revealed that he met Mridula when she was in ninth standard and he was in 11th. For the Stree 2 star, it was 'love at first sight'. Recalling how he fell in love with Mridula at his sister's wedding in 1993, the actor shared, “It was my sister's wedding and I saw her on the rooftop balcony and thought to myself, 'This is that woman. With whom I want to spend the rest of my life. And I didn't even know who she was, or what her name was, at that time.”
Pankaj Tripathi thought that he was playing tricks by catching a glimpse of Mridula, but his wife saw him at the wedding. He told, “It was my elder brother's tilak ceremony. I was going to get dressed in a small room on the roof, when a boy with brown eyes, brown hair and a beard saw me. Those eyes kept following me throughout the entire ceremony.”
Although the two were immediately attracted to each other, they did not immediately express their feelings. They slowly started getting to know each other. Pankaj, who used to visit his sister once every five months, would talk with Mridula for hours during his stay. Mridula had once revealed, “I used to leave for school in the morning and would meet him only after dinner. That was our time. We used to sit and talk, sometimes till morning. We both loved reading and had a lot to talk about books, novels, characters, stories and authors.”
Eight years pass, and Pankaj and Mridula still have not accepted their feelings for each other. Around that time, Mridula's father and brother started searching for an ideal groom for her. And, can you believe that Pankaj went with Mridula's brother to meet a potential groom? Yes, you read it right! The actor not only met his crush's potential groom but also told Mridula that the other man is a perfect match for her.
This was the moment when Mridula realized that she would lose something precious from her life. She broke off the marriage proposal, and waited for months to tell Pankaj, who was busy studying at the National School of Drama. Recalling how difficult it was for her, Mridula shared, “I tried so hard to tell him my feelings, but he couldn't understand. It took a long time for him to finally understand what I said.”
After maintaining a long distance relationship for years, the couple managed to keep their love alive by writing letters once in 10 days and calling at 8 pm.
After dating for 12 years, Pankaj and Mridula finally decide to get married. However, it took some time for both of them to convince their parents as they were relatives of each other (Pankaj's sister was married to Mridula's brother), but their family agreed to their proposal and on January 15, 2004, They got married. In 2006, the happy couple was blessed with a lovely baby girl.
