Paper files closed in Uttarakhand! New order of Dhami government, big changes will happen from April 1
Dehradun: Pushkar Singh Dhami government of Uttarakhand has taken a very revolutionary step to improve the administrative system of the state. Now the old cycle of Babu and files in government offices is about to end. The state government has issued orders to all government departments across Uttarakhand to bring transparency and speed up work. ‘e-Office’ The system has been made mandatory. According to the order issued by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, after April 1, 2026, no government work will be done on paper files.
‘Full stop’ imposed on offline files
After the new order of the government, now any kind of offline correspondence or paper-based files will not be accepted at the government level. This clearly means that now every letter and every file will be digital. Although 845 out of 961 government offices in the state have already been connected to e-office, the old ‘file culture’ was still dominant at many places. In view of this lax attitude, the Chief Secretary has given a strict warning that after the stipulated time, offline files will be directly rejected.
Increased responsibility of officers, all work will be digital
The responsibility of 100 percent implementation of this new system has been directly entrusted to the heads of departments and District Magistrates (DM). The order clearly states that all secretaries and principal secretaries should ensure the use of e-office in their subordinate offices. This will also be reviewed soon and strict action can be taken against those districts or departments where the pace of digital transformation is found to be slow. Officials have been instructed to provide necessary training and technical support to their staff so that there is no interruption in work.
Control on corruption and big benefit to the public
The biggest benefit of e-office becoming mandatory will be to the general public. Now digital tracking of files will be possible, so that it can be known which file is stuck on which table. This will eliminate problems like unnecessary delays and file rotation. Also, any file without an e-signature will not proceed, which will reduce the scope for fraud and corruption. The aim of Dhami government is to make Uttarakhand completely ‘Digital Uttarakhand’, so that people do not have to visit offices for their work.
Now that era is going to become history when people used to wander from office to office to get the file passed. The new language of Uttarakhand administration will now be digital, transparent and accountable.
