Pappu Yadav and Railway Minister clashed in the House over the number of trains, there was a fierce debate on the figures.

Tezzbuzz Desk- During the proceedings of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, a heated debate was witnessed when independent MP from Purnia Pappu Yadav raised questions on the functioning of the Indian Railways. During Question Hour, he alleged that on normal days shortage of trains and coaches is cited, but during election time suddenly a large number of trains are announced. He said that when passengers have to wait a long time for confirmed tickets and the waiting list keeps increasing, it is natural to raise questions on the availability of additional trains during elections.

Linking it to election strategy, Pappu Yadav said that the public should be told that if resources are available, why are they not used regularly. He demanded transparency regarding the capacity and management of the Railways and said that priority should be given to passenger amenities and not election announcements.

To respond to his allegations, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself stood up and rejected these claims outright. The Railway Minister said that Railways works under a well-organized network and special trains are run as per the demand, especially during festivals and rush hours for the convenience of passengers. He clarified that linking these trains with elections is completely wrong and an attempt is being made to mislead the House.

Ashwini Vaishnav also informed that there has been significant improvement in the infrastructure of Indian Railways in recent years. Construction of new railway lines, modernization of tracks and increase in the number of trains are being done continuously. He claimed that thousands of special trains were run during festivals like Diwali and Chhath, which provided a lot of relief to the passengers.

However, Pappu Yadav did not seem satisfied with the minister’s answer and continued with his questions. This debate has once again given rise to a new discussion in the Parliament regarding the functioning of the Railways, utilization of resources and passenger facilities.
