In Rajkot district of Gujarat, parents brutally murdered their own 22 year old son Ram Bambhwa. The son did not do any work and used to drink alcohol and fight at home every day. Fed up with this, his parents first forcefully poured acid into his mouth and when he started writhing in pain, they strangled him to death. After this they created a false story to make it look like suicide. After the post mortem report and the complaint of Ram’s wife, the police have arrested both the parents.
On June 30, 22-year-old Ram Bambhwa died. After his death, his family members told the police and villagers that Ram had committed suicide by drinking acid. When the forensic post-mortem of the body was done, the doctors said that Ram did not die just due to drinking acid but he was strangled. After this, the police took action and arrested Ram’s 47 year old father Babu alias Atul Bambhwa and his 45 year old mother Manisha alias Moti Bambhwa.

Wife lodged FIR
This entire incident came to light when Ram’s 20-year-old wife Bansi lodged an FIR with the police against her in-laws. Bansi told that only 5 months had passed since her marriage. Ram did not do any work, he was unemployed and was constantly looking for a job. His father Atul ran a tea shop in the village. Bansi told the police that Ram had a very bad habit of drinking alcohol. He would often come home drunk and would abuse, quarrel and fight with his father.
A day before his death i.e. on 29th June, both Ram and his wife Bansi had gone to Bansi’s maternal home i.e. their in-laws’ house. There too, Ram drank too much alcohol and on this issue he had a fight with Bansi’s father i.e. his father-in-law. Fed up with the quarrel and uproar between his son-in-law, Bansi’s father called Ram’s father Atul. He told Atul to come here and take his son back with him. The next day i.e. on 30th June, Ram returned home alone but his wife Bansi stayed at her maternal home.

When Ram reached his home on the night of 30 June, he was again under the influence of alcohol. As soon as he returned home, he again started fighting with his father Atul. The parents were fed up with these daily fights and decided to kill Ram. Amidst this dispute, mother Manisha forcefully poured acid in Ram’s mouth. When Ram started writhing in pain due to the acid, his father Atul closed his mouth and strangled him to death.
When Bansi was at her parents’ house, she got a call that Ram had committed suicide by drinking acid. After this Ram was cremated. After the funeral, some relatives of the family secretly told Bansi the whole truth of that night. Bansi has alleged in the police complaint that when the truth came out, her in-laws threatened her. He had told Bansi not to tell this to anyone, if this truth came out then the family’s honor would be ruined.

Police found evidence from the spot
Rajkot District Superintendent of Police i.e. SP Vijay Singh Gurjar said that this death was looking suspicious from the beginning, hence he had ordered a forensic post-mortem. In the post mortem report, strangulation marks were found on Ram’s neck, which made it clear that it was murder.
Investigating officer U. R. Damor said that both the accused were arrested on July 2 and were produced in the court on July 3. The police have seized the acid bottle, clothes of the accused and a bedsheet which has marks of Ram’s vomit on it as evidence from the crime scene.
