Park Eun Bin and Cha Eun Woo looped in for Netflix Korea’s original series The WONDERfools

The cast and production details for Netflix Korea’s forthcoming original series, The WONDERfools, were formally revealed on the social media platform on November 1. The drama tells the story of a bunch of regular misfits in the imaginary city of Haeseong suddenly acquire superpowers in this one-of-a-kind superhero action comedy, transporting viewers to 1999, a year full of apocalyptic fever and Y2K anxieties.

Park Eun Bin, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Im Sung Jae, and Son Hyun Joo are set to star in The WONDERfools, which offers a new and exciting twist on the comedy action genre.

Park Eun Bin will play the role of Eun Chae Ni, a loving but chaotic character who is the town’s biggest “trainwreck” and surprisingly charming. As Chae Ni falls into unanticipated situations and unexpectedly acquires superpowers, her life takes a wild turn in this nostalgic late 1990s setting. Cha Eun Woo will co-star with her as the austere but enigmatic public worker Lee Woon Jung. Despite his strict and regulation-bound work at City Hall, Woon Jung joins Chae Ni in their investigation into a string of strange disappearances. The odd duo explores the mystery that threatens their city together.

Kim Hae Sook plays Chae Ni’s grandmother, Kim Jeon Bok, who owns a well-known restaurant in Haeseong, adding familial drama to the narrative. Described as a strong yet enigmatic character, Jeon Bok has a troubled past that suggests she may have secrets of her own. Im Sung Jae will play Kang Robin, the town’s “biggest pushover,” and Choi Dae Hoon will play Son Kyung Hoon, Haeseong’s infamous troublemaker.

Son Hyun Joo completes the cast as Ha Won Do, a strong character who adds tension and suspense to the narrative by concealing deeper motives behind his logical façade.

The series is directed by Yoo In Shik, who is known for his work on Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and written by Heo Da Joong of Extreme Job fame.
