Delhi. If you are thinking of getting a new passport or renewing your old passport, then this news is very important for you. The government has decided to drastically increase the fees for making and renewing a passport from July 1. An official notification in this regard has also been issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday.

Now you will have to pay this much for ordinary 36 and 60 page passports

According to the notification of the Ministry of External Affairs, from July 1, applicants will now have to pay a normal fee of Rs 2,500 for making or renewing a new passport of 36 pages. Let us tell you that at present the fee for this is fixed at Rs 1,500. Similarly, if an applicant wants to get a passport with 60 pages, the normal fee for the same will be increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500 directly.

If your passport is lost or damaged, your pockets will become looser.

The government has also increased the fees charged in case the passport is lost or damaged. Now on lost or damaged passport:

36 page passport: The normal fee for this will now be Rs 5,000, which till now was Rs 3,000.

60 page passport: For this, now applicants will have to pay Rs 6,000 as normal fee.

Fees increased for minors also, immediate service also became expensive

This new change will also affect the passports of minors. Now for minor children:

The normal fee for a 36-page passport has now been fixed at Rs 1,750, which is currently Rs 1,000.

Minors will now have to pay a fee of Rs 4,250 for a 60-page passport.

Along with this, the Tatkal service for making passport in case of emergency has also been made expensive. The additional Tatkal fee charged for all these categories of services has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500. This means that now to get a Tatkal passport made, you will have to pay an additional Rs 2,500 along with the base price.
