Pathum Nissanka Catch: The 30th match of the T20 World Cup 2026 was played between Sri Lanka and Australia at the Pallekele International Stadium. In this match, Sri Lanka’s star batsman Pathum Nissanka showed excellence in batting as well as fielding. While jumping in the air, he took such an amazing catch with one hand that all the players and spectators present on the field were astonished. His catch is being discussed everywhere and its visuals are spreading rapidly on social media.

This incident was seen in the 17th over of Australia’s innings. At that time Glenn Maxwell was batting in good rhythm and scoring runs fast. He tried to play an aggressive shot on the first ball of the over. The ball went high in the air and it looked like it would cross the boundary line, but Pathum Nissanka ran fast, took a long jump in the air and made a brilliant catch with one hand. Due to this excellent effort, Maxwell had to return to the pavilion and Australia suffered a major setback.

Australia’s innings faltered as soon as Maxwell was out.

After Maxwell’s dismissal, the pace of Australia’s innings slowed down. Till the first ten overs, the team appeared to be in a strong position and it seemed that the score would easily cross 200 runs. But as wickets kept falling, the middle-order batsmen failed to play big innings and the team came under pressure. Ultimately the entire Australian team was reduced to 181 runs in 20 overs.

Sri Lanka won the match by 8 wickets

The excellent performance of the Sri Lankan cricket team continues in the T20 World Cup. The team took its campaign forward and registered a big win in the tournament by defeating Australia by 8 wickets. In this match, Australia batted first and scored 181 runs after losing all the wickets in 20 overs, but Sri Lanka displayed excellent batting and achieved the target in 18 overs and won the match.

Pathum Nissanka’s historic century

Opener Pathum Nissanka gave a great start to the Sri Lankan team chasing the target. Nissanka created history by playing an unbeaten inning of 100 runs in this match. Facing 52 balls, he hit 10 fours and 5 sixes. With this century, he became the second Sri Lankan batsman after Sanath Jayasuriya to score a century in the T20 World Cup.
