Pati Patni Aur Woh Do box office collection: Ayushmann Khurrana’s magic did not work on the first day, the film missed double digits.
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Collection— Bollywood film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, released yesterday at the box office, has had a very sluggish start on its first day. Theaters had high expectations from this spiritual sequel of the Karthik Aryan starrer hit film released in 2019. However, the film failed to attract audiences to the theaters on its first day of release on 15 May. Contrary to the claims of trade analysts, this romantic comedy film remained far away from touching the double digit mark on the first day.

Expectations dashed: Earned only so many crores on opening day
There was a good buzz in the film corridors about this film starring big stars like Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Vamika Gabbi and Sara Ali Khan. It was believed that the film would open its account with at least Rs 10 crore on the first day. According to preliminary data from box office tracker Sacnilk, ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ has collected only Rs 3.85 crore on its first day. This opening is like a big blow for the makers because such a slow start to the weekend can have a direct impact on the lifetime collection of the film.
Trade experts’ opinion: Where did the film go wrong?
“The advance booking of the film itself was weak. Despite the presence of Ayushmann Khurrana and the star cast, the weak screen count and lack of enthusiasm among the audience about the first day was clearly visible. If there is not a huge jump in the collections on Saturday and Sunday, then the road ahead is going to be very difficult for the film.”

Impact on audiences and theatres: Will luck change on the weekend?
Multiplex Association and Single Screen Theaters had expressed hope of huge footfall for this film this weekend. Even in the evening shows, the occupancy in theaters in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and big cities remained limited to between 25 to 30 percent. Now all eyes are on the collection of Saturday and Sunday. If the word of mouth remains positive, then only any improvement can be seen in the film’s business, otherwise the film’s earnings may fall further during working days.
