Patna High Court will soon get 9 new judges, Supreme Court Collegium approved the names, see full list

News India Live, Digital Desk: Big news is coming out from the judicial corridors of Bihar. The Supreme Court Collegium has taken a big step to overcome the shortage of judges in Patna High Court. The collegium headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has approved the proposal for appointment of 9 new judges in Patna High Court. The special thing in this recommendation made by the Supreme Court is that all these 9 names are of officers associated with the Judicial Service. These officers have been recommended to be promoted as High Court judges on the basis of their excellent career and experience. After getting the green signal from the Central Government, warrants of their appointment will be issued by the President. These 9 names have been approved (probable list): The names of the judicial officers recommended by the Collegium mainly include: Shailendra Pandey, Arun Kumar Jhajitendra Kumar, Alok Kumar Pandesunil Kumar Panwarchandra Prakash Singhchandra Shekhar Jhalaxman Reddy (from the respective judicial quota) Bipan Kumar, Patna. The number of pending cases in the High Court will reduce. At present, many posts of judges are lying vacant in Patna High Court as compared to the sanctioned posts. Due to less number of judges, the pendency of cases is continuously increasing. The arrival of these 9 new judges will not only increase the efficiency of the High Court, but will also give hope to the common people of Bihar to get justice soon. What is the process of appointment? After the names are recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium, this file is sent to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice. After investigation by the Ministry and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the file reaches the President through the Prime Minister’s Office. The appointment of judges becomes official once they are signed by the President and they are sworn in.
