Patna University Student Union elections, NSUI’s dominance after a long time, Shantanu Shekhar president and Khushi Kumari captured the post of general secretary.

Desk: Patna University Students’ Union elections were held on 28 February 2026, in which NSUI registered a landslide victory. Shantanu Shekhar won the post of President with 2067 votes, while Khushi Kumari captured the post of General Secretary. Vice President Shifat Faiz got 1571 votes and Ayush Harsh got 1503 votes in second place. Abhishek Kumar won the post of Joint Secretary with 2143 votes. His nearest rival is Mohd. of NSUI. Munawwar Azam got 1751 votes. Harsh Vardhan of ABVP, who became the treasurer, got 1519 votes. His nearest rival Abhishek Kumar got 1429 votes. Police forces were deployed at all the booths for voting. Late night, certificates were handed over to the winning candidates. Vice Chancellor Prof. Namita Singh expressed hope that all the elected officials will work for the welfare of the university and students.

Credit for victory to Congress leadership and Pappu Yadav: According to the election results, Shantanu Shekhar of NSUI won the post of President. He defeated student JDU candidate Prince Kumar by 1496 votes. Shantanu Shekhar got a total of 2896 votes, while Prince Kumar got 1400 votes. After winning the post of President, Shantanu Shekhar called it the collective hard work of the organization and said that this victory is the result of the support and guidance of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, NSUI organization and MP Pappu Yadav.
Independent winner for the post of Vice President: The contest for the post of Vice President was very exciting. On this post, independent candidate Sifat Faiz defeated JDU student Ayush Harsh by 65 votes. Sifat Faiz got 1571 votes, while Ayush Harsh got 1503 votes. Sifat Faiz also created ruckus over the delay in declaration of results. After this, the votes for this post were re-counted, but both times Sifat Faiz remained ahead and was declared the winner.

NSUI captures two important posts: Khushi Kumari of NSUI won the post of General Secretary. He defeated student RJD candidate Pratyush Raj by a margin of 553 votes. Khushi Kumari got 2164 votes, while Pratyush Raj got 1611 votes. With this victory, NSUI captured two important posts of the Central Panel. Congratulating NSUI on this victory, MP Pappu Yadav has said that this victory is the result of the determination to get justice for the NEET student. We will fight till our last breath for the safety, justice and rights of our daughters.
ABVP won on two seats: ABVP’s Abhishek Kumar was declared victorious for the post of Joint Secretary. He defeated Manowar Azam of NSUI by 392 votes. Abhishek Kumar got 2173 votes, while Manowar Azam got 1751 votes. Whereas for the post of treasurer, Harsh Vardhan of ABVP defeated student Abhishek of JDU by 90 votes. Harsh Vardhan got 1519 votes, while his rival got 1429 votes.
