Paul Pogba and Juventus decided to part ways by mutual consent

Turin, 16 November (Hindustan Times). Paul Pogba and Juventus have agreed to part ways by mutual consent as the French midfielder faces an 18-month ban from football. The 2018 World Cup winner was found positive for DHEA, a substance that increases testosterone levels, during a routine drug test in September 2023. Pogba's contract with the Italian club will officially expire on November 30, 2024, with the 31-year-old Pogba preparing to return to the pitch in March 2025.

In a statement released by Juventus, the club acknowledged Pogba's contributions during his time in Turin and wished him success in his future endeavours.

“Juventus Football Club and Paul Pogba have announced that they have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract until 30 November 2024,” the statement read. The Club wishes Paul all the best for his professional future.”

Pogba expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans, saying, “My time at Juventus is over. It has been a privilege to wear the Bianconeri shirt and share so many special moments together. I will cherish the memories we made.”

Pogba, who initially served a four-year suspension, successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to have the ban reduced to 18 months. The midfielder remains determined to come back stronger after his suspension is lifted.

In an emotional Instagram post dedicated to Juventus supporters, Pogba reflected on the bond he shared with the fans during his time in Turin. He wrote, “There are moments when things don't go the way we want, but one thing is for sure: The bond between me and you, dear fans, will be unforgettable. You have given me so much more than I can express in words, and I will always carry with me all the affection you have given me. You will always be in my heart. All the best, Juventus.”

According to some reports, Pogba is looking at a move to Ligue 1, with Marseille emerging as a possible destination. A return to French football could give the former Manchester United star a chance to rejuvenate his career and return to competitive football after his suspension ends.
