Paush Amavasya fast story
According to the legend, there was a poor Brahmin whose daughter, despite being beautiful and virtuous, was not able to find a suitable groom for marriage. One day a sage came to the Brahmin’s house. The Brahmin served the sage with full devotion. Pleased with the service, the sage told him the solution to remove the obstacles coming in the way of his daughter’s marriage. The sage said that if the girl goes to a nearby house and does service and cleaning every morning, then the obstacles coming in the marriage will end.
The girl started going to that house every day and started cleaning it. After a few days, the lady of that house saw her and after knowing everything, she was happy and blessed her for marriage. But at the same moment, the lady’s husband died. The sad lady did 108 rounds of the Peepal tree and prayed to Lord Vishnu. Coincidentally, that day was Paush Amavasya. By the grace of God, her husband came back to life and the marriage of the Brahmin’s daughter also took place.
Since then, it is believed that reciting Vrat Katha and circling the Peepal tree on the day of Paush Amavasya brings happiness in life and removes all troubles.
