The accident happened shortly after take off from Port Blair

According to the information, this helicopter of national helicopter service provider company Pawan Hans had taken off from Port Blair on Tuesday morning. It was to land at Mayabunder located in the northern part of the Middle Andaman Islands.

Officials said the helicopter was in the process of landing at Mayabunder around 9:30 am when it fell into the sea about 300 meters short of the runway. Local administration and rescue teams became active immediately after the incident.

Pawan Hans spokesperson confirmed the accident and said, "The helicopter had taken off from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers. Everyone has been rescued and is safe. There is no news of anyone being injured."

According to the spokesperson, it was a minor landing accident, which occurred near Mayabunder at around 9:30 am. Due to prompt relief work, everyone was evacuated safely.
