There are millions of followers on social media

Payal Dhare is one of India’s most popular female gaming YouTubers. He has millions of followers and his reputation is considered strong in the gaming community. In such a situation, linking an obscene video to his name became not just a personal attack but a case of organized digital defamation. This was the reason that this time the fans also got divided into two parts. While one section raised questions, the other openly came out in support of Payal.

How did the rumor spread?

There were questions on the authenticity of the video which was spread on social media linking it to Payal from the very beginning. Many users claimed that there were inconsistencies in the facial expressions, body language and visuals of the video. From here the suspicion deepened that the matter could be of AI-generated deepfake i.e. creating fake videos using someone’s identity.

I have nothing to do with this video: Payal

After the initial uproar, Payal Gaming himself came forward and clearly said that he has no connection with the viral video. He termed it a conspiracy and said that it was an attempt to tarnish his image. Instead of reacting hastily, Payal waited for evidence and the legal route and this proved to be her biggest strategy.

Entry of Maharashtra Cyber Police

Based on Payal’s complaint, Maharashtra Cyber Police took cognizance of the matter and started investigation. In the technical investigation, the video was analyzed with special tools and digital forensic techniques. What came to light during the investigation silenced the trolls and rumor mongers.

Investigation revealed: Video completely deepfake

Maharashtra Cyber Police officially confirmed that the viral video is a deepfake created by manipulating AI technology. Clear signs of modification and digital manipulation were found in the video. With this conclusion, Payal Dhare’s name was completely cleared and the matter now turned to the search for the culprits.

Under which sections the FIR was registered?

FIR number 52/2025 was registered on Payal’s complaint, in which

  • Several sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) 2023
  • Section 67 of IT Act 2000
  • Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986

Serious legal sections like this are included. This is a clear indication that the matter is not just a rumor but a serious cyber crime.

Strong message for trolls

Now the cyber police is busy identifying those who made, uploaded or spread the video. This case can become an example that even defamation done on digital platforms will no longer go unpunished. This step of Payal Gaming is not just a fight to save its reputation, but a warning to all those who consider ruining someone’s life through deepfakes and rumors as a “joke”.
