PBKS executed the biggest run chase in T20 history, DC lost by scoring 264 runs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have performed an astonishing feat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. PBKS has executed the biggest run chase not only in IPL but also in T20 history at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In the afternoon match on Saturday (April 25), Delhi Capitals (DC), batting first, scored 264 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. KL Rahul played a brilliant inning of 152 runs in 67 balls. DC’s victory was considered certain at the innings break but PBKS had other intentions.

 

PBKS openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh made a partnership of 126 runs in the first 6.5 overs and then Shreyas Iyer took advantage of two lives and gave the team victory in the first over. PBKS easily achieved the target of 265 runs by losing 5 wickets in 18.5 overs. Earlier, the record of most successful chase was in the name of PBKS. He completed the chase of 262 runs against KKR in 18.4 overs in IPL 2024.

Prabhsimran-Priyansh added 116 runs in powerplay

In the huge run chase, Prabhsimran and Priyansh gave a flying start to PBKS and added 116 runs in the powerplay. Meanwhile, Priyansh also got some life support. DC fast bowler Lungi Ngidi got injured while trying to catch him. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. DC fielded Viraj Nigam as his concussion substitute. However, he did not get any benefit from it. Vipraj could take only 1 wicket for 24 runs in 2 overs.

 

Priyansh was out as the first wicket after playing an innings of 43 runs in 17 balls. He hit 2 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His wicket was taken by opposition captain Akshar Patel. In the next over, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Prabhasimran. Prabhasimran scored 76 runs in 26 balls hitting 9 fours and 5 sixes. Kuldeep made the match exciting by dismissing Cooper Connolly (17) in his next over but poor fielding doomed DC.

 

Karun Nair took two easy catches of Shreyas. Taking advantage of this, Shreyas maintained the invincible chariot of PBKS by playing an unbeaten inning of 71 runs with the help of 3 fours and 7 sixes in 36 balls. Shashank Singh, who was in poor form, scored unbeaten 19 runs in 10 balls.

Rahul-Rana’s hard work wasted

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, DC lost the wicket of Pathum Nissanka (11) in the third over itself. After this, KL Rahul and Nitish Rana laid the foundation of a big score by making a partnership of 220 runs for the second wicket. Nitish was out after playing an innings of 91 runs in 44 balls. Rahul scored an unbeaten 152 runs to take DC to the same score but this also proved to be insufficient.
