Now the loss will be settled with money! PCB is going to recover lakhs from players for poor performance; Learn about the case in detail?
Pakistani Players To Be fined: In view of the continuous poor performance of the Pakistan team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given a strange punishment to the cricketers of Pakistan. According to media reports, PCB will impose a penalty of ₹ 50 lakh (Pakistani Rupees) on every player who performs poorly. After this step of PCB, there is a lot of discussion in the cricket world.
Decision taken after losing to India
The Pakistani cricket team has not performed well in the last several ICC events and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under the leadership of Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has now decided to ban it. A report in tribune.com.pk said that the decision was taken long before their elimination — after they had lost to India in their group game.
In the last T20 World Cup held in USA and West Indies in 2024, Pakistan could not even reach the Super 8 as it lost to the smaller team USA and arch-enemy India. After which Naqvi promised surgery, this was a reaction to reports that Pakistani players do not get along with each other, and often put their own desires above the team’s goals.
Pakistan’s performance in T20 World Cup 2026
Even after two years, nothing has changed for the Pakistani cricket team. They once again lost to India in their group match last month. They barely won against the Netherlands. Although they reached the Super 8s, they did not really do well there, and as a result failed to reach the semi-finals. In their last Super 8 game against Sri Lanka, after scoring 212 runs, they had to restrict Sri Lanka to 147 or less to reach the semi-finals. Forget that, they won the match with difficulty, by just five runs. If the team had not lost at the last moment, they could have scored 20-30 more runs.
According to the report, PCB officials believe that players should be fined for their poor performance, arguing that they also get rewards when they play well and win.
A look at PCB’s central contract
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Divides its central contract players into four categories — A, B, C and D — and pays a fixed monthly retainer for each category. Players included in Category A receive approximately 45 lakh Pakistani rupees per month, although according to some reports no players were included in this category in the 2025–26 contract cycle. Category B players are paid around Rs 30 lakh per month and usually include established international players.
Category C players get around Rs 15 lakh per month, who are considered medium level players. Whereas the emerging or fringe players falling in Category D are given about Rs 7.5 lakh per month as retainer. All these amounts are paid on a monthly basis throughout the year, provided the player continues to have a central contract.
