Big decision of PCB, now Pakistani players will get salary according to the format

Pakistan Cricket Board has made a major change in its central contract system and announced the implementation of format based salary model. Now players will be placed in different tracks based on Test, ODI and T20 expertise, while 85 percent of the role in team selection will be data and performance based analysis.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to make a major change in its central contract system. Till now players were given contracts on the basis of A, B, C and D grades, but this is going to change completely in the new system. The board has decided to classify the players on the basis of their specialist formats.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Coach Aaqib Javed and Team Director Mike Hesson announced this new policy in a joint press conference. The board believes that this will make the process of evaluation and payment of players more transparent, while also increasing fairness in the selection system.

PCB will give utmost importance to test playing players

The PCB has divided its new contract model into four separate “format tracks”. Track-A will accommodate those players who mainly play Test cricket. Track-B and Track-C will include players who specialize in ODI and T20 formats. Whereas Track-D will be for those cricketers who mainly participate in T20 cricket and franchise leagues around the world. The board has made it clear that Test cricket will be given priority and the players involved in this track will get the most importance and benefits.

Mohsin Naqvi told the reason for the change

In the press conference, Mohsin Naqvi said that in the old contract system, disputes often arose regarding the grading of players. Many players were not satisfied with their category and were accused of bias. For this reason, the board has prepared a new model, in which players will be evaluated mostly on the basis of their performance and statistics. He believes that this system will work to increase transparency and trust among the players.

Team selection will be based on computer data

PCB has made major changes not only in the contract system but also in the selection process. Now 85 percent role in player selection will be based on data and performance based analysis. The computer model will evaluate the players’ statistics, while the role of personal opinion and discretion of the selectors will be limited to only 15 percent. The Board hopes that this will bring fairness in the selection process and talented players will get opportunities without any bias.

A new era has started in Pakistan cricket

This step of PCB is being seen as a big change for Pakistan cricket. The format based contract system and data based selection process will give players a chance to focus more on their specialist formats. Also, the board hopes that this will increase the competitiveness of the team and will help in achieving better results in future. Now it will be interesting to see in which direction this new model takes Pakistan cricket.
