PCB will impose a fine of Rs 50 lakh on Pakistani players, Naqvi is unable to digest the defeat from India in the World Cup

New Delhi. Now the players of Pakistan team will have to bear the consequences of poor performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 directly from their own pockets. According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), adopting a strict stance, has decided to impose fine on every player of the team. This action has been taken after being out of the Super-8 of the World Cup and after the crushing defeat by Team India in the group stage.

Fine of 50 lakh Pakistani rupees on each player

According to media reports, a fine of 50 lakh Pakistani rupees (about 16 lakh Indian rupees) has been imposed on every player of Pakistan playing the T20 World Cup. This amount will be deducted from the players’ salary or match fees. That means PCB itself will recover this money.

  • Pakistan team has not been able to reach the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive ICC tournament. In such a situation, the board has given a clear message that poor performance will now directly translate into financial loss. There has been strictness regarding results in Pakistan cricket before also, but this time the fine of such a huge amount has become a topic of discussion.

How was your performance in the tournament?

Pakistan played all its matches in Sri Lanka, but could not take advantage of the home-like conditions. In the beginning it defeated Netherlands by 3 wickets, although that match was also very close. After this, America was defeated by 32 runs. But the big defeat of 61 runs against India exposed the weaknesses of the team. Despite this, Pakistan somehow reached the Super-8.

Gap in the mouth even in Super-8

The story changed completely in Super-8. The match against New Zealand was canceled due to rain. Then England defeated by 2 wickets. There was definitely a win against Sri Lanka, but due to poor net run rate, the team could not make it to the next round. Overall, the team’s performance was not as per the expectations and now the players will have to face the financial punishment as well.

Defeat against India made a joke of Naqvi

Actually, before this World Cup, Pakistan had done a lot of drama. Pakistan had announced boycott of its match with Team India. PCB Chief Naqvi’s drama continued for many days. But finally Pakistan agreed and when it faced India, Team India defeated it badly. This defeat of Pakistan made it a laughing stock in its own country. That’s why PCB is very upset with its players.
