PCB's announcement: Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan only, hybrid model rejected
Champions Trophy 2025: The dispute between Pakistan and India regarding ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is increasing. This time the tournament has been decided to be organized in Pakistan, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that they do not want to play in Pakistan. Amidst this controversy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has made the matter more complicated with his statement. Naqvi has made it clear that the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan only, and he "hybrid model" Will not accept.
PCB chief's strict statement
Speaking to the media outside Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that the pride and honor of Pakistan is paramount for the PCB. He said, "We will organize the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and will not go on the hybrid model. If India has any problem, they can talk to PCB officials."
What is the controversy over hybrid model?
Hybrid model is a system in which matches between India and Pakistan are played at a third venue. This prevents players from the two countries from directly facing each other, and this model was also used in the recent Asia Cup. However, the PCB is not ready to accept this model for an important tournament like the Champions Trophy.
Awaiting India's response
BCCI had already stressed that the Indian team will not go to play in Pakistan, and now all eyes are on ICC on this issue. ICC is expected to clarify its stand on this matter soon. PCB says that the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan only, and India should clarify its position and discuss a solution with the PCB.
