PDM script ready! Chandrashekhar and Swami Prasad met after Owaisi’s hint

The possibilities of a third front in the politics of Uttar Pradesh are once again at the center of discussion. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi had recently expressed the need for a new political option in the state. After his statement, the long meeting between Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) National President Chandrashekhar Azad and former minister Swami Prasad Maurya has increased the political stir. There was discussion between the two leaders for several hours regarding the political situation, social equations and 2027 assembly elections. In political circles, this is being seen as a possible preparation for the PDM i.e. Backward, Dalit and Muslim alliance.

Recently, during a public meeting held in Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi had given a big political message by describing his party’s state president Shaukat Ali as the possible face of the assembly elections. In the same meeting, he had stressed the need for a third political option in the state. Since then, discussions regarding new alliance and third front had intensified in the state politics. Now the meeting of Chandrashekhar and Swami Prasad Maurya has given further strength to these speculations.

Political exercise going on on PDM formula

Political analysts believe that efforts are being made to bring Dalit, backward and Muslim votes in the state on one platform. Chandrashekhar Azad has a strong identity in the Dalit society, while Swami Prasad Maurya has been a prominent face of the politics of backward classes for a long time. At the same time, Owaisi is busy increasing his political penetration in the Muslim society. In such a situation, the coming together of these leaders can create new equations in the politics of the state.

Which parties can come together?

In the possible third front, apart from AIMIM, Azad Samaj Party and Swami Prasad Maurya’s political platform, Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) is already seen with Owaisi. Apart from this, there are discussions about Peace Party, Rashtriya Ulema Council, Mahan Dal and some other small regional parties becoming part of this alliance. Although no major formal alliance has been announced yet, there is talk of ongoing talks behind the scenes.

Political experts believe that this possible alliance can have the biggest impact on the Samajwadi Party’s traditional PDA and Muslim-backward vote bank. Chandrashekhar is working on the strategy of capturing Dalit votes, Swami Prasad on backward classes and Owaisi on Muslim votes. In such a situation, if this front takes shape then the contest in the politics of the state may become triangular.

Eyes fixed on 2027 elections

There is still time for the assembly elections but political parties have started preparing their ground. The meeting between Chandrashekhar and Swami Prasad is being considered a part of this larger strategy. If Owaisi, Chandrashekhar, Swami Prasad and other small parties come together on one platform in the coming months, a new political pole may emerge in Uttar Pradesh politics.

At present, the picture is not completely clear but the indications are that the script of a third front is being written in the state. The discussion that started from Owaisi’s meetings has now reached the meetings of the leaders and this alliance can prove to be a big political experiment before the political battle of 2027.
