Peacock reveals ‘Hamnet’ streaming release date
Hamnet gets the streaming release date on Peacock, giving the audience a chance to watch the literary drama before the Oscars ceremony.
This year’s most talked-about contenders, directed by Chloé Zhao, will arrive on the platform on March 6, just days ahead of Hollywood’s biggest night.
Adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling 2020 novel, the period drama imagines the grief that shaped William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, focusing on the playwright’s family life and the loss that haunted it.
Paul Mescal steps into the role of Shakespeare, but it is Jessie Buckley’s portrayal of Anne Hathaway that has driven much of the film’s acclaim.
Buckley has already secured a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and a Critics’ Choice Award, and remains in contention at both the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Academy Awards.
The supporting cast includes Jacobi Jupe, Olivia Lynes, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach as the couple’s children, alongside Emily Watson, David Wilmot, and Joe Alwyn in key family roles.
Nominated for eight Oscars, including best picture, director, and leading actress, Hamnet now heads into the ceremony with strong momentum and fresh streaming visibility.
