Penguin Random House India: ‘No copy released’

Regarding the proposed autobiography of former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane political And the stir in legal circles (Penguin Random House India) has intensified. After Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi citing alleged excerpts from the book, now an official clarification has come from the publisher.

The book’s publisher Penguin Random House India has clarified that this autobiography titled ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ has not been published yet nor has any copy of it been released publicly. The company says that it has exclusive publishing rights of this book and no distribution has taken place without their permission.

This statement has come at a time when news of FIR being registered in Delhi Police regarding alleged illegal circulation of manuscript (Penguin Random House India) came to light. According to the publisher, whatever content is being circulated in digital or any other format is not authorized.

The company in its statement clearly said that no copy of the book – whether printed, PDF or online file – has been printed, sold or made public till now. It was also added that if any version or excerpt is found available anywhere, it would be considered a direct violation of copyright law.

The publisher has taken a strict stance in this matter and warned (Penguin Random House India) that legal action can be taken against the dissemination of unauthorized content. At present, the controversy related to the book remains a topic of discussion both at the level of political rhetoric and legal investigation.
