People under 16 years of age cannot use social media in Australia Gujarati

Melbourne: Australia’s Communications Minister introduced a law in Parliament on Thursday, according to which the use of social media will be banned for children under 16 years of age. Communications Minister Michel Rolland said that online safety has become a big challenge for parents these days.

Australian Communications Minister Rowland said that if social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit and X fail to stop children from creating accounts on these social media platforms, then all social media platforms can be fined up to 50 million Australian dollars.

Rowland said, “Social media can prove harmful for many young people in Australia. Nearly two-thirds of Australian children aged 14 to 17 have viewed extremely harmful content online, including drug abuse, suicide or self-harm.” “A quarter of children viewed material promoting unsafe eating habits.” He said government research had found that 95 per cent of Australian parents rated online safety as one of their biggest parenting challenges.
