This has also posed a big challenge to governments and regulatory bodies.

Experts working on digital rights believe that this situation is not just an issue of privacy, but is also linked to democratic values and personal freedom. If people do not know how their data is being used, they cannot be completely free in the digital world.

The report also says that users need to be more aware. Data security can be ensured to some extent by using strong passwords, proper use of privacy settings and staying away from non-essential apps and services. Additionally, governments are also expected to enforce strict and transparent data protection laws.
