Bizarre BBL stars moments: Perth Scorchers players push Uber to reach the stadium

In a surprising twist during the Big Bash League (BBL), the Perth Scorchers players, Ashton Agar, Aaron Hardie, Laurie Evans, and Mahli Beardman, were seen pushing an Uber while heading toward Sydney Showground Stadium.

The unusual pre-match breakdown of the car occurred on December 30, 2025, as the players were travelling to their Big Bash League (BBL) match against the Sydney Thunder.

The four athletes did not give up on their commitments on the game day and chose to flex their muscles by pushing the car to keep it moving again. After managing to restart the vehicle, the players jumped in and geared up for the contest.

News of their arrival quickly became the talk of social media and was also discussed during the live broadcast.

“One of our viewers has sent us a message suggesting that you made it to the ground today in very strange circumstances. Is this true?”

Laurie Evans, who was fielding with an earpiece connected, burst into laughter and replied, “We took an Uber but unfortunately it broke down, so we had to give them a hand to the side of the road. It was a different way of arriving but it was good fun.”

Despite the hiccup, Perth Scorchers won the match against Sydney Thunder by a margin of 71 runs. Ashton Turner was declared the Player of the Match by scoring 99* off 41 balls (not out).

The unexpected breakdown did not hurt their performance. The hard-earned victory pushed Perth to third place on the BBL 2025 points table.
