Perth Test: Australia defeated Indian women’s team by 10 wickets in the only test.
Perth. India suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat against Australia on the third day of the women’s only day-night cricket Test here on Sunday. The Indian team, playing at 105 runs for six wickets in its second innings, was reduced to 149 runs in which Pratika Rawal played an inning of 63 runs in 137 balls. The Indian team was limited to 48.2 overs in the second innings.
Ashley Gardner (two wickets for eight runs) dismissed both yesterday’s unbeaten batsmen Sneha Rana (30) and Pratika. Elena King also took two wickets for 23 runs. Australia’s most successful bowler was Lucy Hamilton, who took three wickets for 32 runs, while Annabel Sutherland also took two wickets for 15 runs.
Australia needed only 25 runs to win and openers Georgia Woll (16 not out) and Phoebe Lichfield (11 not out) scored 28 runs without losing wickets in 4.3 overs to give victory to the host team. Earlier, India had scored 198 runs in the first innings, in response to which Australia, with the help of Annabel Sutherland’s 129 runs, gave the host team a significant lead in the first innings by scoring 323 runs.
