PESA rules notified in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren’s big gift on New Year…but questions on amendments

Ranchi: Jharkhand Government through Panchayati Raj Department has launched the much awaited pesa rules 2025 Has been notified. Chief Minister on 23 December Hemant Soren After consent in the Cabinet meeting chaired by Shri Narendra Modi, it was given final approval by making amendments as per the suggestions of the Ministers.

As soon as the new rules come into force, it has become effective in all the Fifth Schedule areas of the state. Under this, Gram Sabha has been given the status of supreme unit and without its permission no development plan can be implemented in the village. The right to manage water, forest and land has also been given to the Gram Sabha. This decision is being considered as a historic step towards empowering the tribal and tribal society.

The state government has also implemented the rules for PESA law in Jharkhand, due to which now the villagers will get their rights through Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayats. Meanwhile, former Director of Panchayati Raj Department, Nisha Oraon, while giving information about the notification of PESA rules on social media, has mentioned several amendments in the original draft.

PESA rules have been released today in Jharkhand.

This is different from the draft published during my tenure in July 2023 and approved by the Law Department in March 2024 – many amendments have been made in it.
