Emphasis should be placed on increasing public confidence
The petition states that the SIT formed by the Uttar Pradesh government has started investigating the case without an FIR or any regular criminal case. The petition said that the veracity of the reports of missing funds and other alleged irregularities of the trust should be independently investigated. The investigation should be conducted by an agency that has the necessary expertise, resources and institutional mechanisms to handle complex financial and criminal investigations.
The petition states, ‘Such an investigation would provide greater confidence to the public, rather than the initial investigation being conducted by a special investigation team consisting of administrative officials, who may not have special expertise in criminal investigation.
