Petrol-Diesel Price Hike: Petrol-Diesel prices increased again amid global crisis, fourth increase in 10 days.
New Delhi, 25 May. Amid the global crisis, the prices of petrol and diesel in the country have once again increased on Monday. The price of petrol has increased by Rs 2.61 per liter and that of diesel by Rs 2.71 per liter. This is the fourth time in the last 10 days that petrol and diesel prices have increased. The increase in prices has increased the additional economic burden on the common people, passengers and the transport sector. Before the price hike, petrol was being sold at Rs 99.51 per liter and diesel at Rs 92.49 per liter in Delhi.
But now, petrol in the capital has reached Rs 102.12 per liter and diesel Rs 95.20 per liter. The impact of continuously increasing fuel prices is directly falling on the pockets of the common man. Due to the increase in prices, fares for taxi, auto and freight services are also expected to increase. Besides, it can also have a major impact on inflation. Earlier, while increasing the prices on May 23, the government oil companies had increased the prices of petrol by 87 paise per liter and diesel by 91 paise per liter.
This is the fourth increase in fuel rates in the last 10 days amid rising global crude oil prices. On May 15 itself, government oil companies gradually started passing on the burden of increased energy prices to customers due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. After the increase in prices, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders had defended the decision. BJP leaders had compared the rise in oil prices in India and other countries. Also, it was claimed that among the big economies, India is the country where the common citizens have the least burden.
