Recently, Naira had increased the prices of petrol and diesel. After this, Shell India has also increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Shell India has increased the price of petrol by Rs 7.41 per liter and diesel by Rs 25 per liter. However, government oil companies have not made any change in the price of petrol and diesel.

Government oil companies have maintained their old prices. But after the start of the Middle East war, two companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel. However, on April 1, 2026, Indian Oil had also increased the rate of XP100 petrol by Rs 11 per liter. After which XP100 petrol has become Rs 160 per liter.

Why are the prices of petrol and diesel increasing?

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz is the route through which about 20 percent of the world’s crude oil passes. But due to war the traffic is closed. This is the reason why the price of crude oil is continuously skyrocketing. The price of crude oil has crossed $109 per barrel. Whereas before the war started, the price was around Rs 70 per barrel.

Price of petrol and diesel in big cities?

Today the price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 94.72, Kolkata – Rs 104.21, Jaipur – Rs 104.72, Indore – Rs 106.48, Patna – Rs 105.58 and Chennai – Rs 100.75. If we talk about the price of diesel, it is Rs 87.62 in Delhi, Mumbai – Rs 92.15, Jaipur – Rs 90.21, Indore – Rs 91.88, Patna – Rs 93.80, Chennai – Rs 92.34 and Hyderabad – Rs 95.70.
