Petroleum Minister’s assurance: There is no shortage of fuel in the country, LPG production increased to 54,000 tonnes per day.

New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Tuesday that there is no shortage of fuel in the country and the supply is running smoothly.

The minister said that despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the government has increased the production of LPG. Earlier, 35,000 to 36,000 tonnes of LPG was produced daily, now it has increased to 54,000 tonnes per day. With this quantity, about 38 lakh domestic cylinders (of 14.2 kg) can be filled daily.

Hardeep Singh Puri said at CII’s annual business conference that India currently has 69 days of crude oil and LNG stock and 45 days of LPG stock.

Emphasizing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for austerity, Puri said that everyone should be alert to reduce the fiscal pressure arising due to the West Asia crisis.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had also appealed to the countrymen to use fuel judiciously, promote metro and carpooling, use electric vehicles, give priority to work from home and postpone unnecessary foreign trips and purchase of gold for a year. The government is trying to ensure that the crisis in West Asia does not have a negative impact on the common people.
