Golabazar, Gorakhpur,. A Dalit girl from Uruva police station area has appealed to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gorakhpur for justice, alleging physical exploitation for years on the pretext of marriage, refusal to marry, caste-based insults and assault. The victim alleges that no action was taken on her complaint at the police station level, after which she had to reach the SSP office. Taking the matter seriously, the SSP has immediately registered a case and ordered investigation.

According to the application given by the victim, about eight years ago she had met Suraj Kumar Jaiswal, a resident of Uruva, in a bank. It is alleged that the accused established a love affair and assured her of marriage and on this basis had physical relations with her. Later, he also got a room on rent in Gida area, where he kept coming and going continuously.

The girl says that whenever she raised the issue of marriage, the accused kept hedging. Upon applying more pressure, he gave a written assurance through a notary in the court that he would marry her. Despite this he did not fulfill his promise.

According to the victim, on April 26, 2026, she received Suraj’s wedding card. When she talked to the accused about this, he flatly refused to marry her. After this she reached the house of the accused and informed the family about her relationship. It is alleged that during this time the accused’s family members beat him up, used caste based words and threatened to kill him.

The girl says that she had given a written complaint at Uruva police station, but no action was taken there. After this she reached the SSP office and informed about the whole matter.

Taking the complaint seriously, SSP Gorakhpur called for a report from the concerned jurisdictional officer and directed the station in-charge to immediately register a case under relevant sections and SC-ST Act and start investigation. It was also said that medical examination of the victim should be done.

Following the order of the SSP, an FIR has been registered against the accused. The matter will be monitored from CO level. Police have started investigation and officials say that if found guilty, strict legal action will be taken against the accused.
