Physics Olympiad 2026: India won 5 gold medals
In the 56th International Physics Olympiad 2026 held in Colombia, India performed brilliantly and won gold medals with all five participants. With this achievement, India jointly achieved the first position in the world with five other countries.
Bucaramanga: Indian students put up a historic performance at the Physics Olympiad 2026, winning gold medals for all five participants. In this prestigious competition held among 87 countries, India made the country proud by jointly achieving the world number-1 rank along with China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Taiwan.
India’s excellent performance among 87 countries
Indian students created a new history by performing brilliantly in the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026 held in Bucaramanga city, Colombia. All the students of the five-member Indian team won gold medals in this prestigious international competition. With this achievement, India jointly secured the first position with China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Taiwan.
This year, 381 participants from 87 countries of the world took part in the competition. After tough written and practical examinations, Indian students displayed their talent brilliantly and brought glory to the country among all the competitors. These five students won gold medals
This time all the five students representing India brought historic success to the team by winning gold medals. Gold medal winning students include Kanishk Jain from Pune, Maharashtra, Ridhesh Anant Bendle from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Rishit Garg from Dwarka, New Delhi, Shrestha Suraiya from Mumbai, Maharashtra and Swarit Joshi from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
These students represented India after successfully clearing the multi-stage selection process at the national level. Their performance at the international level proved that Indian students are making a strong mark for themselves at the global level in the field of science and research.
