PIB Fact Check: A fake news circulating on WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform, has created an uproar among retired government employees. The message said that under the Finance Act 2025, retired employees will stop getting DA hike and Pay Commission benefits in future, affecting lakhs of pensioners. However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the central government’s press agency, has completely rejected the claim and termed it as false. According to PIB, this message is being forwarded repeatedly, but there is no truth in it.

As the message spread across social media, there was a wave of concern among government pensioners. However, due to this claim of PIB, the retired government employees breathed a sigh of relief. In this fact check, he made it clear through a tweet that this rumor being spread in the name of Finance Act 2025 is false and baseless.
The PIB further said that Rule 37 of the CCS (Pension) Rules, 2021 has been amended, but the amendment applies only to a specific situation. The revised rule states that if an employee employed in a public sector undertaking (PSU) is dismissed for misconduct, his pension or retirement benefits can be cancelled. This does not mean, dearness allowance has been increased for general retired employees or pay commission benefits have been stopped.
