Big diplomatic victory for Modi government? ‘Zero tariff’ on Indian clothes America can impose, claims Piyush Goyal
India-US Trade Deal: India is getting relief one after the other from US President Donald Trump. Earlier, major changes were made in the fact sheet of the India-US deal and some conditions were relaxed, now after a day there is a possibility of getting more concessions. This has been disclosed by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. On Thursday he said that India’s textile sector will get more benefits than those given by the US to Bangladesh.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who played a key role in trade talks between India and the US, indicated that like Bangladesh, the Indian textile sector is also expected to get the facility of zero US tariff after the final agreement is signed. His statement will provide a lot of relief to Indian textile exporters, because the US-Bangladesh trade agreement has created big challenges for this business.
Piyush Goyal’s counterattack on Rahul Gandhi’s statement
Piyush Goyal’s statement in this regard has been given at a time when a series of attacks and counter-attacks are going on in the political circles regarding the India-America trade deal. It is noteworthy that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had said that this agreement between India and America is a complete surrender to Donald Trump. Now Piyush Goyal targeted his statement and said that he spread another lie in the Parliament that Bangladesh has benefited more from the trade agreement than India.
Zero tariff on Bharti Textile like Bangladesh
Commerce Minister told Congress that Bangladesh has got the facility that if raw material is purchased from America, it is processed, clothes are made and then it is exported, then no tariff is imposed on it. He said that India will also get the same facility.
