Piyush Tripathy Gets Court Nod for Khandagiri Jatra

In a major relief for Odia theatre star Piyush Tripathy, the Bhubaneswar Civil Court has granted him permission to perform on the Khandagiri Jatra stage.

The order clears the way for audiences to witness his powerful acting at one of Odisha’s most prominent cultural festivals.

Tripathy, currently performing with the Singhabihini Jatra troupe, has earned wide acclaim for his strong stage presence and commanding performances. However, legal complications had earlier cast doubt on his participation in the Khandagiri Jatra. The matter reached the Civil Court, which eventually ruled in his favour, allowing him to act on the festival stage.

The news quickly went viral on social media, with fans expressing joy and excitement. The Khandagiri Jatra, held annually at the foothills of Khandagiri, is regarded as one of Odisha’s biggest cultural events, featuring top artists from across the state. Tripathy’s inclusion is expected to add further attraction to this year’s festival.

Audiences have long admired Tripathy’s acting, dialogue delivery, and dance performances. His ongoing role in Singhbihini Jatra has already drawn praise, and anticipation is now building for his Khandagiri appearance.

Organisers also welcomed the court’s decision, saying it would enhance the prestige of the festival. However, details about which troupe Tripathy will join and which play he will perform at Khandagiri are yet to be officially announced.
