Guman stars as Gujarat Giants win, Haryana Steelers outclass Puneri Paltan

A thrilling double-header in PKL Season 11 at the Noida Indoor Stadium saw Gujarat Giants and Haryana Steelers secure vital wins on Wednesday, showcasing their growing dominance.

Gujarat Giants edged Bengal Warriorz 39-37 in a nail-biting encounter, while Haryana Steelers continued their stellar form with a commanding 38-28 victory over defending champions Puneri Paltan.

Gujarat Giants, riding on a Super 10 from Guman Singh, notched a crucial victory over Bengal Warriorz in a tightly contested match. The seesaw battle had fans on the edge of their seats as both teams traded leads throughout.

Guman Singh opened the game with a Super Raid, eliminating three Bengal Warriorz defenders and giving Gujarat an early four-point cushion. However, Bengal quickly clawed back, thanks to a resilient performance by Maninder Singh and Nitesh Kumar. The first half ended with Bengal narrowly ahead, 20-19, as Maninder Singh and Guman Singh each tallied seven raid points.

The second half was a roller-coaster, with both teams exchanging blows. Bengal gained a slight edge after Nitesh Kumar completed a Hi-5 and helped inflict an all-out on Gujarat. However, Guman Singh’s late-game brilliance turned the tide. With under two minutes remaining, he secured a decisive Super 10 and inflicted a game-winning all-out, sealing the Giants’ 39-37 win.

Haryana Steelers edge past Puneri Paltan

In the second game, Haryana Steelers asserted their dominance over Puneri Paltan, registering a commanding 38-28 victory to maintain their position atop the points table. From the outset, Haryana’s defense and attack clicked seamlessly, racing to a 5-0 lead.

Jaideep’s all-out pushed their advantage to eight points early on, and by halftime, they led comfortably at 22-14. Shivam Patare, who finished with a game-high 13 points, spearheaded the Steelers’ attack, while Mohammadreza Shadloui contributed crucial defensive points.

Puneri Paltan, led by Pankaj Mohite and Akash Shinde, attempted a late comeback, with Mohite also notching a Super 10. However, the Steelers’ defense, led by Jaideep, held firm in the dying minutes, ensuring a comprehensive 10-point victory.
