PKL: Sunil Kumar created history, U Mumba won against Bengaluru Bulls
Noida Noida: U Mumba pulled off a thrilling win with the score of 34-32 in a close encounter against Bengaluru Bulls in the Pro Kabaddi League at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Monday. Manjeet and Ajit Chauhan jointly scored 15 raid points to help U Mumba reach the second position in the points table. Meanwhile, U Mumba captain Sunil Kumar achieved a significant feat as he equaled the record for most wins as a captain in the history of Pro Kabaddi League with 73 wins. U Mumba got off to a fast start with Manjeet and Ajit Chauhan scoring raid points while Sombir tackled Pradeep Narwal. With their lead raider off the mat, Bengaluru Bulls found themselves with a four-point deficit in the opening exchanges of the contest.
The pace of the game slowed down after the first 10 minutes as both sides adopted a do-or-die strategy. A release said that U Mumba executed the strategy brilliantly by keeping their defense on top, which once again extended their lead to five points. Ajit Chauhan dealt a blow to Bengaluru Bulls, raiding two figures and taking all out to take U Mumba's lead to double digits. Brilliant performances from Ajit Chauhan and Rinku helped the U Mumba champions maintain their lead at half-time, with the scoreline 18-10. Sombir made the first tackle of the second half, taking out Pradeep Narwal and causing trouble for Bengaluru Bulls. Manjeet then scored two points for U Mumba, keeping them in complete control in the second half as well.
Defensive efforts from Arulnanthababu and Naveen kept the scoreboard moving for Bengaluru Bulls, but it was not enough to help them reduce the gap. Rohit Raghav got a two-point raid for U Mumba on a do-or-die raid and then tackled Pardeep Narwal on a do-or-die raid. Despite Arulanthbabu completing a high-5, it looked like U Mumba would win this match. However, there was still life in this contest as Bengaluru Bulls managed to reduce the gap to five points. Just five minutes before the end of the match, Bengaluru Bulls stormed back into the contest by all-out U Mumba thanks to a two-point raid from Pardeep Narwal. With only one point difference between the two teams, the tension was palpable and it became a back-and-forth contest as the game reached the final moments. Just four minutes before the end of the match, both the teams were on par. Bengaluru Bulls soon grabbed their first lead of the night as Sushil continued his brilliant raiding on a do-or-die raid, and Nitin Raval tackled Rohit Raghav. There was less than a minute left in the game, and Bengaluru Bulls got the lead.
