Ricky Ponting will stay away from the auction table

Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting will not be present with the team during the mini auction this time. Ponting is currently performing commentary duties during the Ashes 2025-26 and hence he will not be able to attend the auction table. However, he will continue to give his suggestions to the team management from Australia itself and help in making the strategy.

Only 8 members allowed at the auction table

According to IPL rules, only a maximum of 8 members of any franchise can sit at the table during the auction. All teams have to submit the list of their representatives to BCCI in advance. Under this rule, Punjab Kings have also finalized their team.

While Ricky Ponting will stay away from the auction, Daniel Vettori will be seen on the auction table this time. Despite being associated with the Australian team, Vettori has taken permission from the concerned board regarding this.
