players sold on day 1 of IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The first day of the two-day IPL 2025 mega auction was hosted on Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Although the day coincided with the third day of the India vs Australia Perth Test in the ongoing BGT 2024-25 series, the BCCI had ensured that the timings of the events in Perth and Saudi Arabia didn’t clash. The IPL 2025 mega auction began soon after the day 3 in Perth concluded where India are on a verge of a memorable win even after getting bowled out for 150 in their first innings.

Coming to the mega auction, the record for the most expensive player in IPL history was broken twice today. First. Shreyas Iyer was picked up by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore. Soon after, LSG broke the bank for Rishabh Pant. Delhi Capitals RTM-ed on Pant at INR 20 crore and LSG raised the bid straight to INR 27 crore. DC tapped out and Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history.

PBKS bought the most number of players today (10) and spent the most amount of money (88 crore). Mumbai Indians bought only four players today.

A total of 72 players were sold in the IPL 2025 mega auction on day 1, out of which 24 were overseas. Heading into the second day, RCB have the most purse left (INR 30.65 crore).
