Big impact of PLI scheme, investment of Rs 2.16 lakh crore in 14 sectors; More than 14 lakh people got employment!
PLI Scheme Investment Success 2026: Under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) scheme, so far an investment of Rs 2.16 lakh crore has been made in 14 sectors of the country. This has created more than 14.39 lakh employment opportunities. This information was given by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday. In a statement issued by the ministry, it was said that till now (till December 31, 2025), 836 applications have been received in this scheme from 14 sectors and a total investment of Rs 2.16 lakh crore has been made.
The statement further said that the total sale of plants installed under the PLI scheme has been more than Rs 20.41 lakh. Out of this, Rs 8.3 lakh crore has been exported. Under the PLI scheme, the government has so far distributed incentive amount of Rs 28,748 crore.
Manufacturing system strengthened
The government said the PLI scheme has strengthened India’s electronics manufacturing system, establishing the country as a major hub for mobile phones and IT hardware products such as laptops, tablets, servers and all-in-one personal computers. Imports of mobile phones have declined by about 77 percent since FY 2020-21 while more than 99 percent of the domestic demand is now being met by local production.
Under this scheme, domestic production of 191 bulk drugs has become possible for the first time, which has offset imports worth about Rs 1,785 crore and domestic value addition has increased to 83.7 percent.
India included in the group of selected countries
At the same time, due to PLI, sales of telecom and networking products have increased more than six times compared to the base year (FY 2019-20), while exports have increased to Rs 21,033 crore. A significant achievement is the implementation of India’s indigenous end-to-end 4G technology by BSNL, making India join the select group of countries with this capability. Additionally, PLI scheme has also been launched for automobile, food processing, textiles and high efficiency solar PV modules.

What did the Ministry of Commerce and Industry say?
Ministry of Commerce and Industry Said that PLI was launched in 2020 as a significant reform initiative to strengthen India’s manufacturing base, reduce import dependence, enhance global competitiveness and create employment. The scheme promotes increased production through performance-based financial incentives, thereby enabling expansion of production, adoption of technology and integration of the supply chain.
