PM Awas Gramin Yojana: (PMAY-G) is an important scheme of the government. The objective of which is to provide permanent houses to poor families living in rural areas. This scheme was earlier known as Indira Awas Yojana. But in 2016 it was updated with new features.

The main objective of PMAY-G is to support families who do not own their houses. Or live in a kutcha house in very poor condition. They should be provided safe and strong homes. So that they can remain safe from weather like rain, heat and cold.

Who can avail the benefits?

Beneficiaries for this scheme are selected after SECC list, scrutiny by Panchayat and confirmation from Gram Sabha.

How much financial aid is available?

Government provides financial assistance to rural families to build permanent houses:

• In the plains: ₹1.20 lakh
• For toilet construction: ₹12,000 (under Swachh Bharat Mission)

Apart from this, beneficiaries are also given assistance from MNREGA for wages.
