In a major relief for millions of farmers across India, the Ministry of Agriculture has introduced a high-tech solution to the common “OTP hurdle” in the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Farmers who struggled with linked mobile numbers or technical glitches during the e-KYC process can now verify their identity using the PM-Kisan Mobile App’s Face Authentication feature.
Why this Update Matters Completing the e-KYC is mandatory for farmers to receive the 19th installment of the PM Kisan scheme. Previously, many beneficiaries faced difficulties because their Aadhaar was linked to an old or inactive mobile number, making OTP verification impossible. The new facial recognition technology eliminates the need for OTPs or physical visits to Common Service Centers (CSC).
Step-by-Step Guide: How to use Face Authentication
Download the App: Go to the Google Play Store and download the official ‘PM-Kisan Mobile App’.
Login: Enter your Registration Number or Aadhaar Number to log in.
Select e-KYC: On the dashboard, click on the ‘e-KYC’ icon.
Face Scan: The app will request access to your camera. Keep your face steady in a well-lit area. The system will scan your features and match them with the Aadhaar database in real-time.
Confirmation: Once the scan is successful, your e-KYC will be updated instantly, ensuring your next installment of ₹2,000 reaches your bank account without delay.
Verification for Others A unique feature of this updated app is that one farmer can also help up to 10 other neighboring farmers complete their e-KYC using the same device. This “community-led” approach is designed to help elderly farmers or those without smartphones in rural areas.
The Deadline Warning The government has urged all beneficiaries to complete this process immediately. Only those with updated e-KYC and Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts will be eligible for the upcoming credit. By adopting AI-driven facial recognition, the government aims to ensure that the benefits reach only genuine landowners, cutting out middlemen and ghost beneficiaries.
